Ming’s Well Chardonnay, Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara
With a deep-rooted history of crafting world-class Chardonnay, Christian introduced Jack to the remarkable terroir of the Sta. Rita Hills—a region revered among Chardonnay purists.
Defined by its rare white sandy soils laced with diatomaceous earth—remnants of an ancient seabed—this AVA produces wines with striking clarity and tension. These marine-based soils, reminiscent of those found in Chablis, are known for imparting vibrant acidity, layered minerality, and beautifully focused fruit.
Ming’s Well Chardonnay expresses this sense of place with precision. Bright notes of green apple and pear are lifted by citrus zest and a clean saline edge, while the palate carries a refreshing energy balanced by subtle texture. The result is a Chardonnay that feels both refined and alive—crisp, mineral-driven, and unmistakably coastal in character.
This is a wine shaped by its origins—where ocean, soil, and craftsmanship converge to create something truly world-class.
